B44 opened its doors in November of 1999 by Chef Daniel Olivella out of his desire to showcase the food, wine and culture of his region Catalunya, Spain. Catalan cuisine is quite diverse, ranging from savory meat base dishes cooked in the inland part of the region to succulent fish-based recipes along the coast.

Chef Daniel Olivella’s home town Vilafranca del Penedes, is known for its cava, human towers (Castellers) and its city fest, which prides itself of being the longest uninterrupted celebration in Catalonia.

Drawing from Catalunya’s rich and festive culture, award wining wine list and extensive cocktail selection, B44 offers an exciting dinning experience in the heart of San Francisco’s downtown where food and culture blend.
